In late 2023 (as I recall, or early 2024) at the World Equestrian Center, down the street from my office building, Senator Rick Scott addressed the audience at a fundraiser for Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods, who was recently reelected to his position. During the event, Senator Scott expressed his strong support for Sheriff Woods and his leadership in maintaining law and order in Marion County. The Senator then pivoted to discuss what he perceives as a growing threat to national security: China's naval advancements.
Senator Scott emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant in the face of China's expanding military capabilities, particularly in the maritime domain.
